AI-Assisted Discovery and Local Recommendations
With Gemini, Google Maps users can now easily explore new places and find recommendations for outings by simply asking the app. For instance, users can inquire about “things to do with friends at night” and receive a tailored list of local options, such as live music venues or unique bars. Gemini will also provide short summaries of user reviews to offer more insight into each recommendation. Users can even ask follow-up questions, such as whether a location has outdoor seating.
Enhanced Navigation for Complex Roadways
Google Maps is also upgrading navigation tools to make driving in unfamiliar areas smoother. The app will now display detailed information on lanes, crosswalks, and road signs, helping drivers choose the correct lane early on. These features are particularly useful on roads with multiple lanes, forks, or exits, where last-minute merging can be challenging.
Exploring Along the Route and Parking Assistance
For drivers looking to explore attractions along their route, Google Maps will display popular landmarks, scenic spots, and dining options as soon as a destination is entered.
